W-News | Hamilton Crash At Joint Mercedes Debut | Unfavorable fate experienced by Lewis Hamilton in his debut with Mercedes GP in which he suffered a crash while diving his first pre-season test.
The incident took place at the Jerez circuit on Wednesday (06/02/2013) evening local time, when W04 was driving lost control on the brakes while crossing the sixth turn and wandering into the gravel before the front of the car struck the barrier wall.
At the time when Hamilton clocked the fastest time in the middle of the second pre-season test with 1 minute 19.519 seconds from 15 laps which devour and then the session is already running 1 hour 48 minutes.
Hamilton was lucky not suffered any injuries and was silent for a few minutes in the car, until he finally came out of the W04.
"Lewis had lost control on the front brake pressure, the front brakes makes it able to slow down the car but he could not avoid the wall," the official statement of Mercedes as reported by Reuters.
"We will investigate the problem in the hydraulic brake attached to the right front tire."
Called in addition to having problems with the front brakes suspension, W04 also is constrained aerodynamic systems. Not yet known how long the car repair.
The second Jerez test session was Hamilton's debut behind the wheel of the Germans and the problems experienced by the 2008 world champion was the second for Mercedes GP, after the first day and then Nico Rosberg had problems with the electrical system of the car.
